Meet Mr. and Mrs. Huskey!

Mark Huskey

Professional Flutist

Mark Huskey is a flutist and educator originally from Winchester, Tennessee. He studied at the Walnut Hill School for the Arts, New England Conservatory, Cleveland Institute of Music, Manhattan School of Music, and Lynn Conservatory. His primary teachers include Robert Gifford, Judy Grant, Doriot Anthony Dwyer, Joshua Smith, and Jeffrey Khaner.

Mr. Huskey has performed with numerous esteemed ensembles, including the San Diego Symphony, San Diego Opera, California Chamber Orchestra, Florida Grand Opera, New World Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic, New Mexico Philharmonic, and Fort Worth Symphony.

In addition to his performing career, Mr. Huskey has taught masterclasses across the country. He has served as a guest teaching artist at the Boston Flute Academy, Vanderbilt University, Middle Tennessee State University, Lipscomb University, the University of Alabama in Huntsville, University of South Carolina, and other institutions.

In 2015, Mr. Huskey enlisted in the United States Navy. After graduating from Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois, he attended the Naval School of Music in Virginia Beach. His previous assignments include Navy Band Southwest in San Diego and the Fleet Forces Band in Norfolk, Virginia.

In 2022, Mr. Huskey auditioned for and was selected to join the U.S. Naval Academy Band. He currently serves in Annapolis as a flute instrumentalist, performing with the marching band, ceremonial units, wind ensemble, chamber winds, and wind trio.

Mr. Huskey is also a flute instructor at the United States Naval Academy and Anne Arundel Community College.

HyeWon “Gloria” Huskey

Music Educator / Flute Instructor

Gloria Huskey is a dedicated music educator, flutist, and curriculum developer originally from Seoul, South Korea. She has taught and assisted in a wide range of educational settings, including Teachers College at Columbia University and the New York Philharmonic’s Very Young People’s Concerts. Beyond teaching music to young learners, Gloria has collaborated with educators and musicians to develop artistic and musical curricula across various institutions.

Gloria holds degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music (BM), Teachers College, Columbia University (MA), and is also a graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy. Most recently, she has completed and earned the Kodály Music Education Certification through the American Kodály Institute at Loyola University. In the fall of 2025, Gloria is embarking on her Ph.D. degree in Music Education at the University of Maryland, College Park, as part of her ongoing commitment to deepening her knowledge and expanding her impact in the field.

Gloria serves in multiple leadership roles. Currently, she is the Lead Musicianship Teaching Artist for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s OrchKids program and the Lead Early Childhood Music Teacher and a flute faculty at the Patterson Park Academy of Music. Moreover, she is a board member at the Bronx School for Music, where she was appointed as the organization’s first Early Childhood Music Development Advisor & Curriculum Coordinator. She successfully launched a new department in 2022 and is actively supporting faculty in designing engaging musical experiences for students and families.

Throughout her career, Gloria has been fortunate to study under esteemed mentors, including Dr. Lori Custodero, Dr. Claudia Cali, Mary Kay Fink, Nancy Stagnitta, and Don Gottlieb.
